Ur Tid

11.6-9.7-2023, Evolutionsmuseet

Opening: Sunday June 11, 12-16 pm, Norbyvägen 22, Uppsala.

Welcome to the exhibition UR TID by Cluster 8 at the Museum of Evolution in Uppsala. In an intervention with the museum’s paleontological and zoological collections, Cluster 8 has reestablished a dialogue between art and science to awaken questions about collecting, evolution and the perception of time.
Process in deep-time. The earth's sediments embrace, we collect, exploit, and weather (vittra?). How is the past stored? In active investigations of fiction, reality, art, and science, Cluster 8 opens a conversation on how we approach and interact with natural history collections. The Swedish title UR TID plays with multiple meanings of the prefix ur, which both recall an ancient indeterminate past and a time that is out of joint. A dynamic purpose that in much describes the process of a natural museum. The museum shows objects beyond the human horizon of experience and struggles to rescue things from erosion by trying to cease the passage of time. The will to knowledge is the force of destruction. By taking over the exhibition rooms of Evolutionsmuseet, art can once again grow together with science on the tree of knowledge. A collaboration born in the past to see the world anew.
